The two can both be true.

AI is replacing tasks. Roles are a collection of tasks.

One set of tasks, swapped out for another.

Still plenty for the people to do.

But not acting as human APIs, mathematicians, or data collectors and summarizers. AI is doing more of that.

There will be new challenges for those new recruits to solve.

New talent, New ideas, New experience, Fresh perspective, Current context

Always take the best available talent.

They'll find something productive to do.

BTW, Jeff, Microsoft’s Mustafa Suleyma did say that AI can replace every white-collar "job" in 18 months, not tasks. Maybe he'll claim temporary insanity in 18 months when you and I are still working.

Or maybe it's just a self-serving comment, since his job depends on that happening...
