Learning from this piece. You do not include the AI crowd but seem to focus on the pre AI crop of data driven organizations. Is there a reason for that? You have a great list of reasons why other organizations should follow the leaders. Summarized I think you are saying that growth, economic growth at the corporate/start up level is possible by effectively using data. It makes sense at the micro economic level. What also makes sense is that society is not worse off overall having gone through the pre AI phase shift as adaptation did occur, granted with decline in certain area’s (brick and mortar retail, diversity decline of creativity in entertainment, and disruption in the taxi business) At the macro level the argument for a lease structure on the knowledge commons seems to have counterbalance at the micro level driven by the good old ‘invisible’ hand. A similar argument would be that following Ricardo’s advice of global trade liberalization (the anti tariff) creating a societal surplus only needs the ‘invisible’ hand to get through the phase shift. We experienced however that unchecked globalization has not been without problems.

So Dean of Big Data where does that leave us other then it is a complex world.
